Lia & Dan Perjovschi: DRAFT for a Joint Retrospective

The ARCUB Cultural Center in Bucharest has announced a major joint retrospective for Lia and Dan Perjovschi, scheduled to run from April 3 to July 26, 2026. Titled "DRAFT for a Joint Retrospective," the exhibition marks 40 years of artistic practice for the duo, who are among Romania's most influential contemporary artists. The show will span three levels of the Hanul Gabroveni, juxtaposing Dan’s satirical, politically charged drawings with Lia’s research-based conceptual archives and installations.

This exhibition is significant as the first large-scale joint retrospective of the artists in their home country, tracing their trajectory from life under a communist dictatorship to the complexities of modern democracy. By framing the retrospective as a "living draft" rather than a static historical survey, the project emphasizes the Perjovschis' ongoing role as critical observers of global and local social shifts. The event underscores their legacy in bridging the Romanian experimental art scene with international institutions like MoMA and the Centre Pompidou.
