Miles McEnery Gallery has announced a solo exhibition of new paintings by Whitney Bedford, scheduled to run from May 14 through June 20, 2026, at their 511 West 22nd Street location in New York. The exhibition showcases the latest evolution of Bedford’s 'Veduta' series, which she initiated in 2019. These works engage in a visual dialogue between historical landscapes by masters such as Monet, Van Gogh, and Pissarro and the contemporary environmental reality of Southern California.
The featured paintings utilize sunset-toned grounds layered with neon-hued motifs, including mid-century modern architecture and Mexican fan palms. By juxtaposing pre-industrial vistas with modern Californian iconography, Bedford explores the tension between different eras and the ecological shifts of the landscape. The exhibition is supported by a digital catalogue featuring an essay by critic Aandrea Stang, who characterizes Bedford's vibrant, saturated forms as both reflective and intensely emotive.
