New Sheboygan County Museum exhibit features over 100 artifacts

The Sheboygan County Museum has opened a new exhibit titled "Milestones — From Moments & Memories," featuring over 100 artifacts from its collection. The exhibit is organized around four themes—Building Milestones, Lifetime of Moments, Communal Memories, and In the Moment—and includes items such as birth announcements, wedding memorabilia, a chapel from Sheboygan Memorial Hospital (originally installed in 1948), a vest worn by Revolutionary War veteran Joseph Richardson, a painting from the Central High School Class of 1959, the original sign from Hmong’s Oriental Market, and an Olympic-style torch from Sheboygan’s Sesquicentennial Relay Run. The exhibit is open through October 24, 2026.

This exhibit matters because it connects personal and community history through tangible objects, encouraging visitors to reflect on how milestones shape identity. It also commemorates the U.S. Semiquincentennial, highlighting the role of local museums in preserving and interpreting shared heritage. By featuring diverse artifacts from different eras and communities, the exhibit underscores the importance of everyday keepsakes in telling broader historical narratives.
