Naperville’s 95th Street Library hosted the Annual Asian Youth Art Exhibition on Sunday, organized by Chinese American Woman in Action (CAWA) and CAWA Youth in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The exhibition featured oil paintings, watercolors, ceramics, and origami by teen artists from Naperville North, Naperville Central, Metea Valley, and Waubonsie Valley high schools, along with musical performances and a drawing workshop led by artist Rich Lo. Mayor Scott Wehrli presented participation certificates to the student artists.
The event matters because it provides a platform for young Asian American artists to share their cultural heritage and personal stories through visual and performing arts, fostering community connection and representation. Now in its fourth year, the exhibition reflects CAWA’s ongoing mission to amplify the voices of Asian American women and youth, offering local teens a rare opportunity to feel seen and heard in a public, celebratory setting.
