Scottish artist Ann Oram RSW celebrates her 70th birthday with a new exhibition titled 'Into the Garden' at Morningside Gallery in Edinburgh. The show, opening on Saturday, features her signature flower and still-life paintings in watercolour, gouache, acrylic, and oil, inspired by gardens in the Scottish Borders, Berwickshire, and Kew Gardens. Oram, who studied and later taught at Edinburgh College of Art, has exhibited internationally and her work is held in public and private collections worldwide.
The exhibition highlights Oram’s enduring popularity as a painter of flowers and still lifes, a career spanning nearly 50 years. It also underscores the role of local galleries in celebrating established artists and fostering community engagement with art. The show includes works by seven other Scottish artists, broadening its appeal and reinforcing Edinburgh’s vibrant gallery scene.
