CCA Derry~Londonderry announces a summer exhibition by artist Christopher Steenson, opening June 19, 2026. The solo show, titled 'All I see is the present,' combines sound photography, installation, and archival material to explore how prehistoric moments connect to the present. It is the first outcome of Steenson's long-term research into Ireland's prehistoric past. A conversation between the artist and historian Dr. Brian Lacey, moderated by CCA Director Catherine Hemelryk, will take place on June 20 as part of Heritage Month.
This exhibition matters because it represents a significant solo presentation for an emerging artist whose work bridges historical and speculative narratives, interrogating time, environment, and more-than-human relations. By engaging with deep prehistory through contemporary media, Steenson offers a unique lens on how the past shapes present understanding, contributing to broader conversations in Irish contemporary art and heritage.
