Science meets art to unlock nature's hidden connections_InKunming

The Shanghai Natural History Museum and the Pudong Biyun Art Museum have jointly organized "Only Tree Knows," a groundbreaking natural art exhibition running from May 1 to August 31. The show features 22 works by 12 domestic and international artists, including Zadok Ben-David's "Black Flowers" and Rodrigo Arteaga's "Fallen Tree," which engage in cross-contextual dialogue with the museum's natural specimens to explore forest ecology and human coexistence.

The exhibition matters because it breaks away from traditional science popularization by colliding taxonomic research with perceptual imagination, helping the public rediscover hidden connections in nature. By using specimens, installations, light, sound, and AI-generated art, it encourages visitors to reread the story of forests with both rationality and sensibility, addressing urgent ecological issues without providing simple answers.
