Major international exhibition “Personal Stories / Political Realities” at Museum of Contemporary Art

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade presents "Personal Stories / Political Realities," a major international exhibition in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lyon. Opening June 12, 2026, and running until September 20, 2026, the show features over seventy works by artists from Serbia, the former Yugoslav region, and the international scene, organized thematically to explore how personal experiences intersect with political realities.

This exhibition matters because it continues a cross-institutional dialogue between two museums shaped by distinct historical and cultural contexts, offering a nuanced perspective on memory, identity, and politics through contemporary art. By bringing together diverse artists—including Marina Abramović, Bruce Nauman, and Steve McQueen—it highlights the enduring power of personal narratives to reflect broader social and political processes, fostering international cultural exchange.
