Abstract visions and folklore fusion: Trio of artists to transform Bengaluru platform with textured narratives

Three Chennai-based artists — Asma Menon, Gita Hudson, and Thejomaye Menon — will present a group exhibition titled "Mavericks of Narratives" at the MKF Museum of Art in Bengaluru. Curated by Shirley Mathew, the show features original textured acrylic works that blend abstract visions, folklore, and contemporary folk art. The exhibition opens June 13, with free entry, and highlights each artist's distinct visual language developed over more than 30 years of practice.

This exhibition matters because it spotlights mature, original voices in Indian contemporary art, offering a departure from repetitive styles in the local art scene. By emphasizing uncopied, deeply textured works and a curated narrative approach, the show reinforces Bengaluru's growing role as a platform for serious artistic dialogue and community engagement with visual art.
