Little Deer—First Heilongjiang Provincial Children's Art Biennale Opens

“小鹿呦呦”首届黑龙江省少儿美术作品双年展启幕

On June 1, 2026, the "Little Deer—First Heilongjiang Provincial Children's Art Biennale" opened at the Heilongjiang Provincial Art Museum. Organized by the Heilongjiang Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles and co-hosted by the Heilongjiang Artists Association, Heilongjiang Vocational College of Art, and Heilongjiang Fine Arts Publishing House, the exhibition received over 4,000 submissions from children across the province. A total of 375 works were selected, spanning Chinese painting, oil painting, printmaking, watercolor, and creative painting, grouped into preschool, primary, and secondary school categories. The works focus on themes of hometown landscapes, winter joy, and childhood dreams.

This biennale matters because it establishes a dedicated platform for children's artistic expression in Heilongjiang Province, fostering cultural identity and regional pride among young artists. By bringing together educational institutions, artists' associations, and publishers, the initiative aims to build a sustainable ecosystem for children's art education rooted in local culture and guided by professional expertise. It signals a growing institutional commitment to nurturing the next generation of visual artists in China.
