New Honolulu art exhibit to explore nature’s patterns in art and science

Contemporary artist Taiji Terasaki will debut a new exhibition titled 'Hawaiian Landscapes: Earth Within Us' at American Savings Bank headquarters in Honolulu, running from June 16 to October 2. The show features paintings and mixed-media works that draw parallels between geological formations, biological systems, and natural patterns, such as volcanic structures resembling blood vessels and river systems mirroring neural pathways. A public reception will be held on opening night, and 20% of artwork sales will benefit Kupu, a youth conservation nonprofit.

The exhibition matters because it bridges art and science to deepen public understanding of nature's interconnected patterns, a theme increasingly relevant in discussions about environmental awareness. Presented by the nonprofit MakeVisible, the show also supports local conservation efforts, highlighting how art can drive ecological engagement and community impact in Hawaii.
