MAM São Paulo Announces Artists for Its 39th Panorama of Brazilian Art Exhibition

The Museum of Modern Art (MAM) São Paulo has announced the 33 artists for its 39th Panorama of Brazilian Art exhibition, titled "Depois que Tudo Foi Dito" (After It’s All Said), opening on September 12, 2026. Curated by Diane Lima, the show features notable artists including Jota Mombaça, Lia D Castro, Caroline Ricca Lee, Allan Weber, Fykyá Pankararu, and Rose Afefé, whose works reflect Brazil’s changing society. The exhibition marks the museum’s return to Ibirapuera Park following renovations.

The 39th Panorama matters because it explores an "epistemological turning point" in Brazil over the last two decades, focusing on affirmative action, social and racial transformation, and a reframing of the country’s colonial past. Curator Diane Lima emphasizes Black feminism, debates around abstraction and race, and the intersection of art and politics, making the exhibition a significant cultural commentary on contemporary Brazilian identity and artistic expression.
