Whitney Biennial 2026

The Whitney Biennial 2026 has announced its roster of 56 participating artists, including Basel Abbas & Ruanne Abou-Rahme, Kelly Akashi, Kamrooz Aram, Teresa Baker, Zach Blas, Martine Gutierrez, Precious Okoyomon, and Julio Torres, among many others. The exhibition runs from March 8 to August 23, 2026, at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. An installation view highlights works by Teresa Baker, kekahi wahi and Bradley Capello, and Pat Oleszko, with a photograph by Ron Amstutz.

The Whitney Biennial is the longest-running survey of contemporary American art, making its artist selection a key indicator of emerging trends and pressing social themes in the art world. This edition features a diverse, international group of artists, many of whom engage with Indigenous histories, colonial legacies, and resistance—as seen in kekahi wahi's film shot at Kealakekua Bay, a site of Captain Cook's arrival and its devastating impact on Native Hawaiians. The biennial thus continues its role as a bellwether for the most urgent conversations in American art.
