Johannesburg’s Artist Proof Studio (APS) is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a benefit exhibition and online auction hosted in partnership with Strauss & Co. Running through April 17, 2026, the event features original prints from a diverse roster of talent, ranging from world-renowned figures like William Kentridge to emerging students currently enrolled in the studio’s programs. The initiative includes a physical showcase at Strauss & Co’s Houghton gallery and a digital sale designed to engage both seasoned and first-time collectors.
This event is a critical fundraiser for APS’s alternative education model, which provides technical printmaking training and professional development to approximately 100 students annually. By focusing on the print medium, the studio promotes an accessible entry point into the art market while ensuring sustainable income for local creators. All proceeds from the sales are dedicated to student bursaries and the maintenance of studio facilities, reinforcing the institution's role as a cornerstone for South African artistic empowerment and social mobility.
