Saluda artist’s painting accepted into American Impressionist Society exhibition

Local artist Jim Carson has been selected to exhibit his painting *Beaufort May* in the American Impressionist Society’s 27th Annual National Exhibition, taking place September 4 through October 3 at the Mockingbird Gallery in Bend, Oregon. The 16-by-20-inch work was chosen from 1,550 submissions, with only 180 paintings accepted into the juried show.

The acceptance highlights the competitive nature of the exhibition, which is considered a premier showcase for contemporary impressionist artists in the United States. Carson, who operates the Jim Carson Studio/Gallery in downtown Saluda, North Carolina, gains national exposure and recognition for his landscape paintings inspired by the Southeast, underscoring the role of regional artists in the broader American impressionist movement.
