Gallery: Ukrainian artist's new Tallinn show explores violence 'everywhere'

Berlin-based Ukrainian artist Yeva Sihachova opened a new exhibition titled "I hate violence and I see it everywhere" at Tallinn's Okapi Gallery on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Curated by Ilja Jakovlev, the show explores how violence permeates everyday life, examining its hidden structures beyond war and catastrophe—in ordinary interactions, repetition, pressure, and the normalization of discomfort. The exhibition features works across performance, conceptual sculpture, printmaking, and video, and will run through July 19.

This exhibition matters because it reframes violence as a pervasive, often invisible force that reshapes bodies, culture, and generational trauma, offering a timely artistic perspective from a Ukrainian artist amid ongoing war. By focusing on the subtle, everyday manifestations of violence, Sihachova’s work challenges viewers to recognize and resist normalization of harm, contributing to broader conversations about resilience, identity, and coexistence in a conflict-affected world.
