A five-day international group art exhibition titled 'Beyond the Surface' is currently on view at Gallery MAFA in Lalmatia, Dhaka. Curated by artist Mahfuza Beauty and organized by the Chironton Art Group, the show features 65 artworks—primarily paintings—by 21 artists from six countries, including Bangladesh, the United States, Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nepal, and India. The works employ acrylic, pastel, oil, mixed media, watercolor, photography, sculpture, and ceramics, exploring themes of nature and diverse human experiences. The exhibition opened on Thursday and will conclude on Monday.
This exhibition matters because it brings together a broad range of international and local artists in Dhaka, fostering cross-cultural dialogue and showcasing contemporary artistic practices in Bangladesh. By highlighting both senior and emerging talents from multiple countries, 'Beyond the Surface' underscores the growing role of community-driven art groups like Chironton Art Group in promoting accessible, multi-media art events outside major global art capitals. It reflects the vitality of Bangladesh's local art scene and its connections to the wider contemporary art world.
