Artist Anish Kapoor presents works old and new in London gallery return

British artist Anish Kapoor returns to London's Hayward Gallery for his first solo UK show there in nearly 30 years, presenting a mix of new and older works. The exhibition, running from June 16 to October 18, features shiny mirrored steel sculptures, void-like black pieces, visceral paintings, and large-scale installations including the 2022 work "Mount Moriah at the Gate of the Ghetto" and new pieces such as "Ha Makom" and "All of Nothing," a huge inflated red PVC membrane.

The exhibition marks a homecoming for the 72-year-old Mumbai-born Turner Prize winner, whose first major UK survey was held at the Hayward Gallery in 1998. Kapoor's continued exploration of the object and non-object, particularly through the color red—which he describes as simultaneously celebratory and terrifying—underscores his enduring influence on contemporary sculpture and installation art, reaffirming the Hayward Gallery's role in showcasing major international artists.
