This Week at LACMA: Grand Opening Weekend for the David Geffen Galleries

LACMA is celebrating the Grand Opening Weekend of the David Geffen Galleries from June 18–22, featuring a community block party, The Art Parade, and the SPIRITS Summer Solstice Dance. The museum also opens the exhibition "Fashioning Chinese Women: Empire to Modernity," hosts free World Cup watch parties, and presents live performances, film installations, and family art-making workshops. Numerous other exhibitions are on view, including works by Mark Bradford, Barbara Kruger, Richard Serra, and Ai Weiwei.

This event marks a major milestone for LACMA as it unveils the David Geffen Galleries, a key component of the museum's ongoing transformation and expansion. The weekend's programming underscores LACMA's role as a central cultural hub in Los Angeles, blending contemporary art, community engagement, and global events like the World Cup to attract diverse audiences and reinforce the museum's relevance in the city's cultural landscape.
