In Basel, artist books are presented on a boat navigating the Rhine

A Basilea i libri d’artista si presentano su un battello che naviga sul Reno

From June 17 to 19, 2026, Archivorum presents the sixth edition of Floating Pages in Basel, a project that turns a boat navigating the Rhine into a floating platform for artist books and public encounters. Visitors can board for free at various city piers to discover new publications from Archivorum×M and engage in conversations with artists, curators, and authors. Featured participants include Francesco Vezzoli, Jonathan Monk, Anthea Hamilton, Delphine Gaborit, Lewis Ronald, and Jaime Welsh. New titles include GABORITHAMILTONRONALD, a collective project inspired by Marianne Moore's poem; a monograph on Jonathan Monk curated by Luca Cerizza; Francesco Vezzoli's Musei delle lacrime, extending his 2024 exhibition at Museo Correr; and the first monograph of Jaime Welsh. Archivorum also participates in the 15th edition of I Never Read – Basel Art Book Fair, held at Viaduktstrasse 33 through June 20.

This initiative matters because it reimagines the artist book as a dynamic, public-facing medium, moving it from conventional gallery spaces into the urban landscape and fostering direct dialogue between contemporary art, the city, and its community. By integrating the river journey into the experience, Floating Pages creates an itinerant cultural device that challenges traditional exhibition formats and broadens access to art publishing during Art Basel, one of the world's most influential art fairs. The project also highlights the growing role of independent publishing and archival practices in contemporary art discourse, as exemplified by Archivorum's recent expansion with a new library space in Turin.
