UNTRANSLATED Brings Global South Memory, Material and Diaspora to VOLTA Basel 2026

The Southern Art Hub and Janet Rady Fine Art present 'UNTRANSLATED,' a curatorial project at VOLTA Basel 2026 featuring four women artists—Bisila Noha, Luma Nascimento, Pantea Mahrou, and Sabrina Da Silva Medeiros. The exhibition explores memory, migration, spirituality, and material knowledge through sculpture, ceramics, painting, installation, photography, textiles, and mixed media, drawing on experiences from Brazil, Iran, Spain, Equatorial Guinea, and the wider diaspora.

The project matters because it foregrounds perspectives from the Global South and diaspora, challenging conventional archival notions of memory by emphasizing embodied, material, and spiritual forms of cultural transmission. By bringing together artists who work with clay, ash, soil, medicinal plants, and found objects, 'UNTRANSLATED' affirms the significance of non-Western knowledge systems and contemporary art practices rooted in ancestral, ecological, and migratory experiences.
