Battersea Arts Centre in London will host the UK premiere of 'The Art of Mini Golf', a playable exhibition featuring nine artist-designed mini golf holes by leading women artists, from 17 June to 26 July 2026. Originally commissioned by RISING Festival in Melbourne and previously shown at Brisbane Powerhouse, the exhibition includes works by Miranda July, Kaylene Whiskey, Saeborg, Delaine Le Bas, Natasha Tontey, BKTHERULA, Kate Miller, Soda Jerk, and Pat Brassington, with a ninth hole to be newly commissioned from a UK artist.
The exhibition matters because it reframes mini golf as a feminist act, tracing its origins to 19th-century Scottish women who created the game after being excluded from traditional golf courses. By placing the show at Battersea Arts Centre—a historic meeting place for the suffragette movement—the project connects playful leisure with political resistance, offering audiences an interactive experience that blends contemporary art, humor, and social commentary.
