The composition is based on the artist's observations of a discount store in Brownsville, Texas, featuring a dense array of consumer goods and reflective surfaces that explore themes of domestic arrangement and cultural artifacts. The work is designed to be read from right to left, mimicking the flow of pedestrian traffic and challenging traditional visual perspectives.
The project marks the official launch of the Murals of La Jolla Emerging Artist Program, an initiative by the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library to provide public platforms for early-career artists. By commissioning Zelter—who also operates the Two Rooms gallery in San Diego—the program signals a commitment to diversifying the local landscape of public art and supporting the next generation of voices within the regional San Diego-Tijuana art scene.
