lee krasner jackson exhibition met 1234774314

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced a landmark exhibition titled "Krasner and Pollock: Past Continuous," scheduled to open in October 2025. This major survey will feature approximately 120 works, including paintings and ephemera, marking the first time the institution has presented a joint retrospective of the famously married Abstract Expressionists. The show aims to present Lee Krasner and Jackson Pollock as artistic equals, tracing their individual trajectories and their mutual influence through loans from over 80 global lenders.

This exhibition represents a significant shift in institutional narrative, specifically addressing the historical overshadowing of Krasner by Pollock's legacy. By framing the duo as "two planets circling each other," the Met signals a commitment to reevaluating modern art history through a more equitable lens. Furthermore, Director Max Hollein noted that this scholarly approach serves as a blueprint for the future programming of the museum’s new Modern and Contemporary Art wing, set to debut in 2030.
