Chris and Andi Harvey, owners of the Hopton Hall Estate, have opened the Hopton Hall Gallery in Ashbourne. The gallery, housed in a renovated 18th-century building, launched with the exhibition 'Brushed Light: Atmospheric Watercolours' featuring local artists and will host a rotating program of shows through May 2027.
The opening represents a significant investment in local arts infrastructure, creating a new commercial and community venue that bridges historical craftsmanship with contemporary practice. Under director Ruth Matthews, the gallery aims to serve both the local community through workshops and a wider audience of art lovers, while also contributing to the area's cultural calendar through its connection to the annual Month of Art celebration.
