The Aspen Chapel Gallery is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a mixed-media exhibition titled "40 Years of Art in Aspen." The show, opening on February 25, will feature works by more than 40 local artists from the Roaring Fork Valley and serves as a benefit for the gallery. It marks the 265th consecutive exhibition for the space, which has been a consistent, free public venue since 1985.
The anniversary highlights the gallery's significant role as a community hub and launching pad for local artists, having presented over 1,500 valley artists and 5,000 high school students. The event also honors the memory of longtime arts patron Susan Marx. The gallery's model of partnering with nonprofits has resulted in nearly $90,000 in donations to local causes, underscoring its embedded cultural and economic support for the regional arts ecosystem.
