Trapezium Gallery, a volunteer-run art space in Bradford city centre, is closing on June 18 after nearly eight years. Its closure is a direct result of the redevelopment of the Kirkgate Shopping Centre, where it has occupied three different shop units since its founding in 2018.
The gallery's shutdown represents a significant loss for the local arts community. It provided a vital, accessible, and unfunded exhibition platform for over 70 shows by local artists and community groups, operating with a constant waiting list for its space. The closure leaves a gap in the city centre for Bradford creatives to display their work, and the volunteer collective is now searching for a new home.
