The National Museum of Bucovina in Suceava will open a major exhibition of works by Romanian painter Ștefan Luchian, marking 110 years since the artist's death. The exhibition, titled 'Ștefan Luchian - a universal artist,' will feature 42 works showcasing his flowers, landscapes, portraits, and still lifes, and is presented by gallerist and curator Damian Florea.
The event is significant as it is the first exhibition of its kind in Suceava in at least 50 years, highlighting Luchian's status as a pivotal figure in modern Romanian art and a successor to masters like Nicolae Grigorescu. The show, funded by the Suceava County Council and organized with several major national museums and foundations, aims to present the universal dimension of his work to a new audience.
