Newcastle Art Gallery is launching its opening weekend celebrations with a street party, live music, and interactive art experiences. A unique highlight offers three attendees the chance to win a bespoke tattoo inspired by the Gallery's collection, to be inked by a local artist during the festivities.
The event marks the culmination of a major expansion and reimagining of the Gallery, aimed at transforming it into a significant cultural destination. Director Lauretta Morton emphasizes the goal of creating lasting impressions and engaging the community with a nationally significant collection that spans First Nations art, colonial icons, and contemporary works.
