D Lan Galleries and Pace Gallery are collaborating to present "Emily Kam Kngwarray: The Turning Season," a major survey of the renowned Australian First Nations artist, on view in New York from May 15 to August 14. The exhibition spans Pace's Chelsea spaces and includes key works from Kngwarray's career, such as her celebrated painting series and early batik textiles, following her landmark 2025 retrospective at Tate Modern in London.
This collaboration underscores the growing international recognition and demand for historically significant works by Australian First Nations artists, positioning Kngwarray—who died in 1996—as a central figure in global art history rather than a regional category. The exhibition builds on a shared commitment between the galleries to advance the global appreciation of Australian First Nations art, highlighting Kngwarray's deeply personal works rooted in the Dreaming and her profound connection to her Country.
