Fraenkel Gallery has partnered with New York's Metrograph theater to present a film series curated by six of its represented artists. The series, titled "Fraenkel Gallery Presents," runs from May 8–17, with each artist selecting a film and several introducing their screenings. The collaboration includes an opening event featuring artist Carrie Mae Weems and director Joel Coen.
This initiative highlights the intersection of visual art and cinema, offering insight into the cinematic influences of contemporary artists. It extends the gallery's community-focused programming from San Francisco to New York, coinciding with a pop-up exhibition and supporting the independent theater through proceeds. The series underscores how galleries are creating new, cross-disciplinary platforms for engagement beyond traditional exhibition spaces.
