Japanese artist Mari Ito will hold her first solo exhibition in India, titled 'Origin of Desire,' at Bikaner House in New Delhi. The week-long show, presented by the gallery GEEK/ART, opens on April 25 and features new paintings and a special installation, introducing Ito's botanical, surreal, and Nihonga-influenced work to a new audience.
The exhibition represents a significant cultural exchange between India and Japan, facilitated by a gallery with bases in both New Delhi and Tokyo. It underscores the growing dialogue between Asian artistic practices and global contemporary art discourses, positioning Ito's traditionally rooted yet transnational work within broader conversations.
