Rory Fitzgerald Bledsoe, a PhD candidate in media studies, operates the multimodal art gallery Space__Space in East Boulder. Her inaugural exhibition, "Phones are Heavy," concluded in January, and a new show, "Archive Fever Dream," is set to open in March. She previously ran a similar gallery, Space 121, out of her Boston apartment.
Bledsoe's gallery functions as a form of public scholarship, aiming to foster discourse on cultural issues and elevate emerging artists and underrepresented ideas. The space is influenced by experimental, community-focused models like New York's Flux Factory, where she completed a residency. Her approach highlights the importance of creating accessible, risk-taking platforms for artistic experimentation outside traditional institutional frameworks.
