Sonia Boyce, the Golden Lion-winning British artist, will create a new permanent work for University College London's historic Bloomsbury campus as part of the institution's bicentenary celebrations. The commission, known as the UCL Legacy Commission, will engage with the campus's history and forward-thinking ethos.
The project is part of a major public art program that includes three artists-in-residence and aims to explore and challenge the culture of the institution. The program highlights UCL's radical history as the first English university to admit students regardless of religion or gender, using contemporary art to interrogate its legacy and future.
