Fredericks & Freiser Founded in 1996 by Jessica Fredericks and Andrew Freiser, Fredericks & Freiser is one of the defining independent galleries of its generation. Among the first to establish a presence in Chelsea, the gallery helped shape the neighborhood’s emergence as a global center for contemporary art. Its ground-floor space on West 24th Street, designed by architect Andrew Ong, reflects a longstanding commitment to clarity, rigor, and the presentation of ambitious work. Since its founding, the gallery has maintained a program devoted to artists whose practices demonstrate originality, formal intelligence, and an independent artistic language. It is recognized for introducing significant voices at pivotal early moments in their careers while also sustaining long-term relationships with artists whose contributions have become central to contemporary art discourse. The gallery’s multidecade engagement with historically significant positions has contributed to critical reassessments that continue to shape understandings of postwar and contemporary art. Artists represented by the gallery have received major international honors, and their work has been included in landmark exhibitions at leading biennials and institutions worldwide. Their practices span generations and approaches, yet share a commitment to depth, invention, and the continual re-evaluation of how images and ideas circulate in the present.…
