founded in London in 2000. They opened the innovative art space in Stockholm in 2005, then located on Torsgatan in Stockholm’s Vasastan neighborhood, exhibiting international artists. Since their first opening, Loyal has been engaged with New York and Los Angeles, bringing an international art perspective to the Scandinavian art scene. Loyal are often early supporters offering international artists an inspiring context in Europe, and to engage with the Scandinavian art public. Loyal has found its home in several spaces over the years most recently in a turn-of-the-century townhouse on Odengatan in Stockholm for the past 6 years, and with an annual exhibition in the historic El Royale in Los Angeles. Starting March 2026 Loyal relocate to a chapel in the historic city of Lund, Sweden. The chapel was built in 1887 by famed architect Helgo Zettervall (serendipitously his son Folke Zettervall was the architect of said townhouse in Stockholm), and is located a stone’s throw from Lund Cathedral (consecrated 1123), and Lund University (founded 1666). Loyal is run by co-founders Martin Lilja and Amy Giunta and continues to uphold its publishing roots by producing in-house exhibition catalogs and books.
