At the Guggenheim, Carol Bove Bends Metal—and Minimalism—to Her Will

A major new exhibition of Carol Bove's work has opened at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Titled "Carol Bove: The séance isn't over," the show features over two dozen of the artist's large-scale sculptures, many crafted from delicately arranged steel tubing and precariously balanced metal plates. A Sprrrawling Exhibition of Cat-Themed Meowsterpieces

A group exhibition titled "Magnum O-Pspsps" at Cornell University’s Olive Tjaden Gallery in Ithaca, New York, features over 40 artists paying tribute to cats through paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media works. Curated by Cornell MFA students Michael Morgan and Elina Ansary, the salon-style show runs for 10 days through September 25, drawing inspiration from Edward Anthony's 1922 fairytale "The Pussycat Princess" and illustrator Louis Wain's anthropomorphic cat drawings. The exhibition includes works by artists such as Lisa Lebofsky, Tatiana Tatum, Steve Keister, Erika Ranee, Juan Hinojosa, Emily Weiskopf, and Leeza Meksin, with some pieces serving as memorials for deceased feline companions.

For the 2026 Venice Biennale, the Turkey Pavilion, commissioned by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), will present "A Kiss on the Eyes" by artist Nilbar Güreş, curated by Başak Doğa Temür. The exhibition takes its title from a Turkish expression conveying affectionate closeness without intrusion, and features a mix of new productions and earlier works spanning sculpture, installation, painting, and works on paper and fabric. In an interview, curator Temür explains that the project avoids a retrospective or didactic approach, instead creating a spatial rhythm of approach, pause, and slight withdrawal, where intimacy, politics, irony, and fragility press against one another.
