In a new home, Photo London gets down to business

Photo London opened its 2025 edition at a new venue, Olympia’s Grand Hall in West Kensington, on 13 May, moving from its previous decade-long home at Somerset House. Despite a hailstorm, the preview day saw lively sales: Paris-B Gallery sold three works for £100,000, including pieces by Yang Yongliang; In Camera sold both a vintage and modern print of Jane Everlyn Atwood's *Auto Portrait (Serpent)*; and Radius Publishing moved 40% of its stock by Thursday lunchtime. The fair runs until 17 May, with prices ranging from £100 to £400,000.

Tilda Swinton Is Bringing a New Performance Piece to Guggenheim Bilbao

British actor Tilda Swinton will debut a new performance piece titled "House of Gestures" at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao on June 5–6, 2025. The work, developed with French fashion curator Olivier Saillard, is inspired by the legacy of Dom Pérignon champagne and will be staged in the museum's Frank Gehry-designed atrium. Swinton has a long history of performance art, including her iconic work "The Maybe" (1995) at the Serpentine Gallery, and is currently the subject of the exhibition "Ongoing" at the Onassis Foundation's Onassis Ready in Athens.

Mexican filmmakers to co-host Serpentine Summer Party

The Serpentine Summer Party, a major fixture in London's art calendar, will take place on 23 June, co-hosted by Mexican actress Salma Hayek Pinault and celebrated filmmakers Alfonso Cuarón and Alejandro González Iñárritu. The event, an invite-only fundraiser, celebrates the Serpentine pavilion, which this year is titled 'a serpentine' and designed by Mexico City-based architecture firm Lanza Atelier. Last year's co-host was movie icon Cate Blanchett.

Playable exhibition ‘The Art of Mini Golf’ at Battersea Arts Centre announces ninth hole artist - Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley

Rising Melbourne and Battersea Arts Centre (BAC) have announced that British artist and game designer Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley will design the ninth hole artwork for the playable exhibition 'The Art of Mini Golf' when it travels to London this summer. The exhibition, formerly known as 'Swingers', will take over BAC from 17 June to 26 July, featuring nine interactive golf hole artworks by leading women artists including Miranda July, Kaylene Whiskey, Saeborg, Delaine Le Bas, Natasha Tontey, BKTHERULA, Soda Jerk, and Pat Brassington. Brathwaite-Shirley's new commission, 'Enough Is Enough', uses video game language to critique technology's impact on society, addressing issues like surveillance, censorship, and wealth inequality.

Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley Expands THE DELUSION Beyond the Gallery with New Interactive Online Game

Serpentine has launched "I DIDNT REALISE YOU THOUGHT LIKE THAT," a new online game and critical thinking tool by artist and game designer Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley. Available from May 21, 2026, on web and mobile platforms, the project extends the world of Brathwaite-Shirley's acclaimed "THE DELUSION" and explores polarization, identity, and social connection beyond the gallery. Developed with nonprofit Beyond Code Collective and supported by Glass Castle Foundation, the game places players in a post-apocalyptic universe where they encounter fictional characters and make decisions that shape narratives and determine multiple endings, drawing on real-world materials from news cycles, social media, and community testimonies.
