Bark Art Stuns Opening Night Crowd

The Wondai Regional Art Gallery in Queensland, Australia, opened its May 2025 exhibitions with a standout piece: a 3D bark portrait of the late actor Uncle Jack Charles by art student Charlotte Simpson, which won the People's Choice award. The show also features a rare photograph of a bee urinating, captured by Moffatdale photographer Liz Barratt, alongside works by the Tomlinson Family Collective and other local artists. The exhibitions were officially opened by South Burnett Mayor Kathy Duff and will run through May 31.

Student Art Exhibition, Earth Day Family Day, and Star Wars LEGO® event at The Pearl Fincher Museum

The Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts in Texas is hosting a series of spring events, including a student art exhibition titled "Fresh Perspectives: Visionaries of the Next Generation" running from April 2 to May 10, 2025, which features winners of the museum's Student Art Contest, works from the Youth Art Council's "Chronicles: Art in the Spirit of Storytelling," and pieces from Lone Star College students. Additionally, the museum will hold an Earth Day-themed Family Day on April 26 with art activities, a petting zoo, and an Art Market, and a Star Wars LEGO® pop-up event on May 3 in collaboration with the Houston Brick Club. The Cole Gallery is also showcasing "HEARD" by Houston artist Tramaine Townsend, focusing on Black cowboy history, through May 10.

Communication Arts Student Art Exhibition open at Schulman Gallery

The 2025 Communication Arts Student Art Exhibition is on display through June 6 at the Schulman Gallery on the campus of Luzerne County Community College (LCCC). The opening night on May 9 drew a large crowd to celebrate student talent, highlighted by the President’s Choice Awards presented by LCCC President John Yudichak and Schulman Gallery Curator Robert Husty. Awards were given in categories including Mixed Media, Sculpture/3-Dimensional Art, Illustration, Photography, Painting, Music Recording Technology, Best Portfolio, and Best of Show, with winners such as Karla Richiez, Jenna Tutorow, Antonio Solis Jr., Amber Jones, Sydney Ogle, Evan Wenner, and Ashley Duran. The awards were sponsored by Marquis Art & Frame.
