Festival of Cats brings cat-inspired art to Thanet

The Festival of Cats, a community arts festival celebrating feline-themed art, is returning to Margate, Kent, from May 1-4. Featuring exhibitions, events, and workshops across fine art, poetry, film, performance, and craft, the festival showcases work from 100 local artists. Originally launched in 2018 as a satellite event for Turner Contemporary's "Journeys with The Waste Land" exhibition, it was inspired by T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats and has since grown into a Thanet-wide event attracting thousands of visitors.

"Free Little Art Gallery" to open in Joshua Tree with new mural

A new "Free Little Art Gallery" will open in downtown Joshua Tree on Saturday, April 25, inviting artists and art lovers to trade their work. Artist Dominique Bass-Terpstra will debut a new mural at the opening event, which also features the local non-profit cat rescue "Mojave Felines" with adoptable cats. The gallery is part of a worldwide network of Free Little Art Galleries, and the event takes place at the Joshua Tree Village from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The art of Brad Chapman Bleau

Artist Brad Chapman Bleau has been featured in a series of images showcasing his mixed-media works, including paintings like "Skäl!" and "Big Mac," which incorporate acrylic paint and found objects on wood. His pieces have appeared in the Danforth Annual Juried Exhibition Show at the Danforth Art Museum in Framingham, and he maintains a studio space called The Bleau Pig at the newly opened Almanac Market in Paxton. An upcoming group exhibition titled "CATS" featuring his work "The Duality of CAT" is set to open May 28 at Worcester State University’s Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery.

Local Artists Bring Interactive Art And Creativity To Southern Maryland

The Color & Light Society of Southern Maryland, a nonprofit organization of over 30 professional visual artists, is bringing interactive art and creative programming to communities across Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's counties. Operating as a "Gallery Without Walls," the society participates in exhibitions, public events, and workshops rather than a traditional gallery space. Upcoming events include Uncorked & Unveiled: Island Edition on May 21, 2026, hosted by the St. Mary's County Arts Council at Port of Leonardtown Winery, where member Cindy Martin-Brennan's artwork will be featured on a wine label, and Raining Cats & Dogs — A Community Art Show on June 5, 2026, where pottery artist Barbara Hak and others created animal figures for attendees to paint.
