'Walk this way' — Easton welcomes art lovers on First Friday

Easton's downtown art scene came alive during the May First Friday event, with multiple galleries opening their doors to the public. At the Zach Gallery inside the Prager Family Center for the Arts, a new exhibition of paintings by Paton Miller was curated by interior designer Jeffrey Parker. The TRA Gallery, run by the Talbot Arts Council, featured a photography show by Steve Waltrich, Mike Miller, and Maire McCardle. Troika Gallery, Easton's original fine art gallery, also participated, with artist Deborah Elville showing her work. Looking ahead, Zach Gallery announced a June 4 solo exhibition by Rhode Island artist Breath Day Wyndham titled "Gathering the Chesapeake," featuring cyanotypes created from flora and fauna collected from the Chesapeake Bay region.

8 Deer Park Students Featured In LI Museum Art Exhibit

Eight students from the Deer Park School District have been selected to feature their work in the annual "Colors of Long Island" student art exhibition at the Long Island Museum. The participants range from primary school first graders to high school juniors, with their pieces curated by district art teachers Briana Fayans, Samantha Racano, Ashley Woolsley, and Rebecca Yackel.

Reconnecting with the Handmade: The Hart Gallery’s Ampersand student art exhibit

William & Mary students showcased their handmade artworks in the Hart Gallery's "Handmade" exhibit, held in conjunction with the Ampersand International Arts Festival. Curated by alumna Zara Fina Stasi '12, a Richmond-based artist and founder of Good for the Bees, the multimedia exhibition featured approximately a dozen student submissions including assemblage, collage, sculpture, sewn hangings, and traditional painting. Student curators Gibran Adnan '27 and Rebecca Graber '27 collaborated with Stasi to select and install the works, which explored themes of experimentation, self-expression, and the human process of creating by hand.

Herndon Art Teacher Rebecca Ogun to be Featured in Local Art Show

Rebecca Ogun, an art teacher at Herndon High School, has been selected as a featured artist for the upcoming "Celebrate Reston" art exhibition. The show is a judged competition hosted at the Jo Ann Rose Gallery, featuring a diverse array of painting and mixed media works under an "Artist's Choice" theme. The exhibition will run from March 30th through April 27th, with a public reception scheduled for the afternoon of April 12th.

Somersfield Academy recently hosted its DP2 Visual Arts Graduate Exhibition at the Rock Island Café, showcasing the final portfolios of students Nico Bean, Hayden Smith, and Excell Jordan. The event marked the conclusion of a two-year International Baccalaureate (IB) creative journey, featuring a diverse range of works including acrylic pour paintings, marine-inspired dot paintings, and detailed anatomical illustrations of dinosaurs.

Quincy Art Center celebrates grand opening of Gallery on 6th

Quincy Art Center is celebrating the grand opening of its new downtown space, Quincy Art Gallery on 6th, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 127 N. Sixth St. The debut exhibit features works by five regional artists, who will give talks about their work and process throughout the day. Activities include a pottery wheel throwing demonstration, and neighboring businesses are offering specials such as themed cocktails, lattes, and desserts to mark the occasion.

Call out to artists for upcoming Women in Art exhibition

The Nambucca Valley Women’s Business Network (NVWBN) has issued a call for entries for its fourth annual 'Women in Art' exhibition, scheduled to open at the Matilda Street Gallery in Macksville on May 16. Local female artists from the Nambucca, Macleay, Hastings, and Bellinger valleys are invited to submit expressions of interest by May 7 to participate in the showcase, which featured nearly 100 works from 44 artists in its previous iteration.

Brooklyn artists exhibit at local museum

The Museum of Contemporary Art Long Island is hosting its occasional series “Art from the Hive” through May 10 at its Terry Street gallery. The inaugural exhibition, titled “Occupying…”, features work by Brooklyn artists who discuss their creative inspirations and muses.

Annual Student Art Exhibitions on Display at the Zuccaire Gallery

The Zuccaire Gallery at Staller Center is hosting two annual student art exhibitions: the Senior Show (April 29 to May 22) and the URECA Art Exhibition (April 29 to May 13). The Senior Show features works by graduating studio art majors and minors and digital art minors, including paintings, sculpture, ceramics, prints, photographs, digital media, and mixed-media installations. The URECA Art Exhibition highlights outstanding undergraduate artwork selected by Department of Art faculty, with juried awards presented by the Division of Student Affairs and Gallery North. An artist reception is scheduled for April 29.
