MoMA Curatorial Eye Comes to Greenwich Art Society

Caitlin Chaisson, a curatorial assistant in the Department of Painting and Sculpture at The Museum of Modern Art, will serve as juror for the Greenwich Art Society’s 109th Annual Juried Exhibition. The show runs from May 14 through June 11 at the Bendheim Gallery in the Greenwich Arts Council’s space at 299 Greenwich Avenue, featuring selected works by local artists competing for a place in one of the town’s established juried art events.

The Kitchen, a storied avant-garde arts institution in New York, held its Spring Gala at City Winery on Pier 57 despite rainy weather. The evening featured performances by A.I.M by Kyle Abraham dancer Alysia Johnson and musician serpentwithfeet, with actor and choreographer Angela Trimbur serving as MC. Chief Curator and Executive Director Legacy Russell opened the night with a spirited speech, and honorees included dance legend Lucinda Childs, philanthropists Jamie Singer Soros and Robert Soros, and artist-filmmaker Wu Tsang, who recalled first performing at The Kitchen 20 years ago.

Mansfield Museum and Art Gallery has launched its Open Art 2026 exhibition, a showcase featuring the work of 27 local and regional artists. Selected by a community panel from over 50 submissions, the exhibition includes a diverse range of mediums such as painting, sculpture, photography, and textiles. The show features both established professionals and first-time exhibitors, including mixed media artist Abbi Olla and self-taught photographer Caitlin Bower.

The Margaret Stonewall Wooldridge Hamblet Thesis Exhibitions, titled "In No Particular Order: Senior Show 2026," will open on April 10, 2026, at Vanderbilt University's Space 204 galleries. The showcase features the thesis work of ten graduating senior art majors: Caitlin Nitschke, Kira Tannenbaum, Lin Morales, Dorothy Chen, Paige Restel, Megan Grosse, Remi Marcus, Isaac Bevin Boakye, Izabella Burghardt, and Rubric Barredo. The opening coincides with a department-wide open house at the E. Bronson Ingram Studio Arts Center, displaying work from students across all art classes.

KIDOOO INSTALL DAY

Maryland Art Place (MAP) is hosting KIDOOO INSTALL DAY on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 12 pm to 4 pm, a youth version of its annual Out of Order event. Elementary, middle, and high school artists ages five to sixteen are invited to hang one original framed work (24" x 24" or less) on a first-come, first-served basis at MAP's 5th floor Gallery in Baltimore's Bromo Arts and Entertainment District. Registration is free, and all works must be priced to sell, with a silent auction taking place virtually on April 10, 2026.
