The Charleston Trust has launched a £250,000 fundraising campaign called Studio 100 to urgently repair a century-old studio at Charleston in Firle, East Sussex. The studio, originally built in a chicken shed in 1925 by artists Vanessa Bell, Duncan Grant, and Roger Fry, was intended as a temporary space but has become a globally significant site. The total project cost is about £470,000, with support already secured from Arts Council England. Repairs will focus on the roof, windows, doors, and fragile painted surfaces, along with installing climate control systems, scheduled from November 2026 to April 2027.

Acclaimed Italian chef Giorgio Locatelli and his wife Plaxy have opened a new restaurant called 'Locatelli' and an espresso bar named 'Bar Giorgio' in the National Gallery's refurbished Sainsbury Wing in London. The openings on May 10 mark the completion of a two-and-a-half-year Bicentenary renovation project of the wing. The menu and decor draw inspiration from the gallery's surroundings and the works of Caravaggio, featuring Italian classics and seasonal dishes. Bar Giorgio offers Italian coffee and maritozzi pastries, aiming to bring Italian coffee culture to gallery visitors.
Bemidji State University art professor Marley Kaul's fourth and final book, "Marley Kaul Paintings," will be released in September, featuring over 300 full-color paintings selected by Kaul and his family. The hardcover coffee table book is divided into 10 chapters that trace Kaul's artistic development from 1961 to 2021, including a final chapter titled "The Unfinished Series" from his last year. A retrospective exhibition of nearly 50 paintings will open at the Talley Gallery on September 4, followed by three book release events in Minneapolis, Bemidji, and Grand Forks.
The Longboat Key chapter of the National League of American Pen Women, Inc. has opened a two-month art exhibition at Plymouth Harbor featuring over 30 artists working in oil painting, pastels, photography, glasswork, sculpture, and creative writing. Notable participants include Miriam Cassell, who layers collages and paint to advocate for inclusion; Jo Jo Fusco, who contributed a large-scale oil painting inspired by Edward Hopper; and Medge Jaspan, who debuted a black-and-white piece titled 'Dec. 21' tied to personal milestones. The exhibition debuted on September 9, with Plymouth Harbor resident Joslyn Kirkegaard purchasing a painting by Barbara Jendrysik depicting the Sarasota skyline.
Masonicare Hospice & Palliative Care has launched "Completing the Journey: The Art of Hospice Care," an art exhibit featuring works created by patients in hospice care across its senior living communities in Connecticut. The exhibit, the first of its kind from Masonicare in over 15 years, includes small artworks on self-standing screens, accompanied by portraits of the artists and brief statements about their creative process. It opened at the Hartog Activities Center in Wallingford on April 28 and will travel to other Masonicare facilities, including Rocky Hill, after previous stops in Chester and Mystic. The project was funded by the Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut.
Mark Freeman, a former sales professional who turned to painting in 2020, is opening his own gallery and studio called Studio 80 in downtown Overland Park, Kansas, on November 7. The space at 7139 W. 80th St. will display his abstract and figurative works with local themes, feature a monthly local artist, and operate as both a gallery and working studio. Freeman, who previously showed at the 80 Santa Fe Gallery, aims to control his artistic destiny and give back to the community through partnerships with nonprofits.
Atelier Gallery in Salmon Arm will host "Springing Forth," the first exhibition in the city from the Federation of Canadian Artists' Thompson Nicola Shuswap Chapter. The show runs from May 1 to May 16 and features works by artists from the Shuswap, Kamloops, and Okanagan regions, selected through a peer jury process.
The Cleveland History Center has opened a new exhibition honoring local Tuskegee Airmen, featuring hand-drawn portraits by students from the Cleveland School of the Arts. The exhibition, part of the Cleveland Heroes Project, is displayed at the Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum and runs through April 30. It highlights airmen with Northeast Ohio roots, including 2nd Lt. CUSP Gallery is organizing the first art exhibition at Newport's historic Belmont Chapel following a major restoration. Titled "As Above, So Below," the show runs from June 14 to 22, 2025, and features circular paintings by local artist Juditta Musette that blend cosmic and earthly themes. The opening reception is June 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. The chapel, built in 1886 by financier August Belmont in memory of his daughter Pauline, recently underwent restoration led by the Belmont Chapel Foundation, earning the 2024 Doris Duke Historic Preservation Award and a Rhody Award for Historic Preservation. Musette will also preview a painting at the Belmont Stakes Race Day Fundraiser, donating it to the foundation's charity auction.
A new art gallery has opened in the former Dockerills hardware store in Brighton, following months of careful renovation. The space, operated by KMA, is a purpose-built gallery that will display hundreds of unique artworks across painting, print, sculpture, and ceramics. Its inaugural exhibition, titled Liminal, features works by artists Rachel Williams, Ashley Hanson, and sculptor Klaus W. Rieck.

They are moving the château's positioning away from its previous focus on family tourism and Perrault's fairy tales toward a more museum-like and prestigious experience. This 'upgrading' includes the opening of a new on-site restaurant, the Café d'Achille, and the redecoration of four rooms by interior designer Jacques Garcia, creating period rooms dedicated to the 18th century, Marie Antoinette, and the Empire style.
Urban Sketchers Milano, a local chapter of the international Urban Sketchers community, recently held an event at Casa Galimberti, a notable Liberty-style building in Milan. The group, founded in 2007 by journalist and illustrator Gabriel Campanario in Seattle, brings together illustrators who draw urban scenes directly from life, on location. The Milan chapter, active since March 2008, is currently managed by Valentín Di Salvo, Stefano Ziffarelli, and Daniela Paglia, and organizes events such as a recent gathering at the garden of Via San Martino, which drew over 90 artists.

Seven senior artists from Moapa Valley High School presented their work in 'Seven Visions: Advanced Studies in Art,' an exhibition held in the school library on April 22. The Hendrick I. Lott House, one of New York City’s oldest surviving structures, is set to become the first museum in Brooklyn’s Marine Park neighborhood. Built in 1720 as a Dutch Colonial farmhouse and expanded in 1800, the house remained in the Lott family until 1989. After the city purchased it in 2002 and completed exterior renovations in 2013, plans are now underway to open its interior to the public for the first time, preserving its unique wallpaper and agricultural history.
