ENTERTAINMENT: AMFA opens Young Arkansas Artists exhibition; UCA Public Appearances sets 2026-27 season

The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts (AMFA) in Little Rock opens the 65th Young Arkansas Artists exhibition on Saturday, featuring 52 artworks selected by a panel of museum and art professionals. The exhibition expands to four works per grade, K-12, and includes a "Best in Class" award chosen by grand juror Celeste Alexander. The show runs through July 26 in the Robyn and John Horn Gallery, with free admission and related activities at the museum's Windgate Art School.

Lake Effect Community Arts to present ‘Vibrant Rebellion’ in May

Lake Effect Community Arts Center in Manistique, Michigan, will present 'Vibrant Rebellion,' a solo exhibition by local artist Jamie John Hider, opening May 1. The show features Hider's intricate paintings of famous musicians like The Beatles and Prince, incorporating hidden clues and Easter eggs that reflect his own background as a musician. A public reception will kick off the exhibit, which runs through May 27.

BAA showcasing third annual Raiders of the Lost Art and May Flowers

The Belleville Art Association (BAA) is hosting two events on Saturday, May 9th, to celebrate the opening of its new exhibition. The third annual "Raiders of the Lost Art" treasure hunt will take place from 12-4 p.m., with over 100 original artworks hidden in 30 downtown Belleville businesses. Participants can pick up a map and search for art, with a "clue crew" offering hints; finders receive a ballot for a BAA gift certificate. Concurrently, the "May Flowers" show opens with a reception from 2-4 p.m., featuring paintings, jewellery, mosaics, textile art, and ceramics by local artists, all available for purchase. The exhibition runs from May 5th to June 6th at the BAA gallery on 208 Front Street.
