The Ferens Art Gallery in Hull has issued an open call for artists across the UK to submit work for its 2026 Open Exhibition. The submission window runs from April 30 to May 21, 2025, with a panel of judges selecting works for display from October 2026 to January 2027. The Fairwinds Fine Art Exhibition is returning to Cowes Yacht Haven on the Isle of Wight from May 1 to 4, featuring works by 13 local artists. The program offers three selected artists—one virtual and two in-person—a $1,500 stipend to support their practice between June 22 and 26, 2026. Designed with a focus on accessibility, the residency specifically prioritizes disabled, neurodivergent, and chronically ill creators across all artistic mediums, requiring a community event and an artist talk rather than the production of new physical work.
An art exhibition called The Crow Gallery is opening in Westport, County Mayo, during the Westival 2025 arts and music festival. Housed in the vacant The Local public house on Castlebar Street, the show features work from local artists with disabilities and participants of an Open Call centered on disability justice. The exhibition explores perceptions of disability, challenges ableism, and aims to spark dialogue about inclusion. It is the first phase of a long-term project to establish a permanent gallery, coffee shop, gift shop, and artist studios where disabled and non-disabled artists collaborate, with people with disabilities leading the space. The project was inspired by local artist Maitiu Quinn and Amber Walsh, and is driven by Anna Wall, who participated in Social Entrepreneurs Ireland's Ideas Academy and a Mayo County Council Arts Office workshop facilitated by artist Kari Cahill.
More than 100 local painters, including artists with disabilities, are displaying their works at the Merdeka Art Exhibition 2025, held at Prince Court Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur. Organized by Art Market Malaysia with the hospital's support, the exhibition features over 100 artworks themed 'Freedom to Heal: Merdeka Through Wellness,' alongside cultural performances, poetry recitals, and an art competition. Interact Center, a nonprofit arts organization supporting artists with disabilities, has opened a new gallery space in St. Paul, Minnesota. The inaugural exhibition features a solo show and career retrospective for artist Andy Seymour, who has been with Interact since 2002 and whose "Summer" series of colorful, circle-filled works is on display. Two additional shows run concurrently: a portrait-themed exhibit and a multimedia collection titled "Collect Our Dream Branches Into a Pile," curated by advocates. The 4,000-square-foot gallery, located on Minnehaha Avenue, is more than double the size of Interact's former space and includes three distinct exhibition areas, accessible amenities, and free parking.
