Young artists take over Slidell's city gallery

Student artists from across St. Tammany Parish participated in the 35th annual Salad Days Juried Exhibition of Student Art at the George Dunbar Gallery in Slidell. The event featured an opening reception and awards ceremony, with 80 artists submitting 174 works, of which roughly 30% were selected for display. Artist and arts advocate Joshua Wichterich served as the juror for the competitive show.

In “El Arte de la Resistencia,” migrant children share their experiences through art

An art exhibition titled "El Arte de la Resistencia" opened in Tucson, featuring artwork created by migrant children who have participated in La Ristra's art therapy program. The show includes life-size paintings, such as a boy's self-portrait with an excavator in his belly symbolizing his deported father's work, and a colorful cactus painted by another child. The exhibition, held in a small gallery near Fourth Avenue and Seventh Street, runs until May 17, 2026, with original pieces for sale to benefit the young artists and prints sold to raise funds for La Ristra, a nonprofit providing emotional support to migrant families.

YVC student art show at Larson Gallery

Yakima Valley College (YVC) art students are showcasing their work in the annual Student Art Show at Larson Gallery. The exhibition features artwork created for class assignments from spring and fall quarters of 2025 and winter quarter of 2026, spanning mediums such as ceramics, painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, and design. Awards and honorable mentions were presented at the opening reception on May 5, and many pieces are available for purchase. The show runs through Saturday, May 30, with free admission.
