National Art Exhibition in Punta Gorda headlines 25 shows at SWFL art centers

Southwest Florida's art scene is bustling with 25 visual art exhibitions across more than a dozen art centers in February. The headline event is the 15th Biennial National Art Exhibition at the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda, a prestigious juried competition for two-dimensional art. Other notable shows include Art Center Sarasota's centennial-celebrating Annual Juried Members Show, the 'Colors in Motion' exhibition at Venice Art Center, and a dual exhibition featuring artists Susan Fraley and Rosalie Mack.

Albany Center Gallery Celebrates Grand Opening at New Pearl Street Location

Albany Center Gallery (ACG) celebrated the grand opening of its new location at 48 N Pearl Street on January 16, 2026, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local officials, artists, and community members. The event featured the 21st Annual Members’ Show, juried by Kayla Carlsen of the Albany Institute of History & Art, showcasing work from 276 artists, with $2,000 in cash prizes awarded. The move from its previous Arcade Building location marks ACG's sixth relocation since 1977, expanding to a 6,600-square-foot space that includes flexible exhibition areas and a doubled youth education space.

New exhibits start at Public Works Art Center

The Public Works Art Center in Summerville, South Carolina, opens five new exhibitions on May 21 with a reception from 5:30-8:30 p.m. The shows include "GODBODY: THE FEMME," a group exhibition celebrating Black women artists; Amy Stewart's "Intersections" exploring interconnectedness; Nick Cerrato's "Our Society Needs To…" featuring abstract works created with his feet; Sarah Mitchell's "Wildlife in Wool" with needle-felted animals; and the Summerville Artist Guild's annual "All Members Show." During the reception, guild members will create collaborative paintings for sale to benefit the Summerville Rocks Scholarship Fund.

Ullapool-based Art Week set to return across Wester Ross

An Talla Solais (ATS) gallery in Ullapool is bringing back its Art Week from September 5 to 14, 2025, featuring over 150 artists across venues in Wester Ross. The program includes the Artist’s Studio Trail, the Members Show, pop-up exhibitions, workshops, artist talks, a film premiere of 'Scoraig Violin', and a community ceramics project. Highlights include a tribute to late Glasgow Girl Florence Jamieson through her daughter Becky Thomson’s open studio, and new work by artist-in-residence Nina Edge at Ullapool Museum.

New ‘Beyond the Gallery’ Art Exhibit at Lil Mill Lofts in Monroe features work of Rebecca Herold

The Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts (MWCA) has partnered with Lil Mill Lofts in Monroe to present a new 'Beyond the Gallery' art exhibit featuring the work of local artist Rebecca Herold. Herold’s paintings, inspired by skies and seas, capture movement, emotion, light, and the quiet power of nature. An opening reception will be held on May 16 from 5–7 p.m. at Lil Mill Lofts, located at 200 Barrett Street in Monroe.

Merritt Wins Best Of Show At Spring Juried Art Show

Wesley Dallas Merritt won Best of Show at the Lakeland Art Association's 22nd annual Spring Juried Art Show, held at the Lakeland Art Gallery in Warsaw, Indiana. The show featured 53 works by 19 artists from Fort Wayne, North Manchester, and surrounding counties, including paintings, photographs, metal sculptures, and ceramic works. Judge Andrew Tomasik, a Warsaw Community High School visual arts teacher, also awarded first place to Brenda Stichter, second place to Merritt, and third place to Sherri Johnson, along with six honorable mentions.
