Kathleen Telesco: Nature Reconfigured at Metro Art in Bridgeport

Metro Arts Studios in Bridgeport will feature Kathleen Telesco as its Featured Artist from May 31 to July 18, 2026. Telesco, who previously focused on realistic still lifes and portraits, has shifted to expressionist and semi-abstract painting over the last five years, working with acrylics and charcoal. Her inspiration comes from nature, ancestry, and dream narratives, and she also volunteers as a wildlife rehabber and birder.

Ekphrastic Poetry Re-imagines Hopeful Art

The Union of Maine Visual Artists (UMVA) is hosting an ekphrastic poetry performance on Saturday, May 23 at 4:00 pm at the Oak Street Lofts Gallery, as part of its "Celebrating Hope" exhibition. Poets Annaliese Jakimides, Gregg Harper, Lily Brown, and Maureen Thorson will respond to artworks inspired by Emily Dickinson's poem "Hope is a strange invention." The exhibition features 20 artists and runs on weekends through May 29.

Art curator to give free public talk

Greg Bell, an art adviser, artist, and curator who has worked on the Paul Allen art collection and with the Tacoma Art Museum, will give a free public talk at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Port Townsend. He will lead a walk-and-talk through the "Florabundance" exhibit at Northwind Art's Jeanette Best Gallery, which pairs ceramist Ariana Heinzman of Vashon Island and Sarah Helen More of Wenatchee. The exhibit features 10 of Heinzman's colorful flower sculptures and More's personal sketchbooks filled with flowers, collages, and birds. The show will be celebrated during the First Saturday Art Walk on June 6 and remains on display through June 22.

Hopkinton Gallery Opening Show Features New England Landscapes

Two Villages Art Society in Contoocook, New Hampshire, is opening a new exhibition titled "Somewhere to Remember" featuring New England landscape paintings by Campton artist Lizzy Berube. The show opens on Saturday, August 10, 2024, with a free public reception from 12 to 2 PM, and runs through September 7, 2024. Gallery hours are Thursdays through Sundays from 12 to 4 PM.

Joplin’s Route 66 art project to feature 16 new 3D paintings

Joplin, Missouri is expanding its public art project along historic Route 66 with 16 new 3D paintings. Artists are creating two-dimensional works that produce three-dimensional optical illusions, building on existing pieces installed in 2024 and 2025 at the Harry M. Cornell Arts and Entertainment Complex and Schifferdecker Park. Two new images are already in place at 1717 West 7th Street, with 14 more artists installing their work from June 3 to June 5. A grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, June 6.

Falls Art Market highlights local talent in community

The Falls Art Market returns for its 9th year in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, featuring around 30 local artists including wildlife artist Tim Davison. The relaxed outdoor market, organized by Lisa Myhre, takes place on the east side of the Levitt Shell on May 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and will continue on the fourth Saturday of each summer month.
