Dallas Museum of Art Announces 2026 Awards to Artists Grantees

The Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) has named 21 recipients for its 2026 Awards to Artists, selected from a record 160 applicants. The grants total nearly $42,000 and are divided into three categories: the Clare Hart DeGolyer Memorial Fund (up to $1,500 for artists aged 15–25 in a five-state region), the Arch and Anne Giles Kimbrough Fund (up to $3,500 for Texas artists under 30), and the Otis and Velma Davis Dozier Travel Grant (up to $6,000 for professional Texas artists over 30). All awardees are current Texas residents, with 16 based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. A public celebration will be held at the DMA on May 19, 2026.

The Liceo Bafile in L’Aquila has established a permanent collection of contemporary art featuring over 60 site-specific works created through collaborations between professional artists and students. Initiated by artist and professor Licia Galizia following the devastating 2009 earthquake, the project integrates art into the educational environment as a tool for cultural rebirth. In 2026, the collection will expand further with seven new installations created by artists including Elena Bellantoni and Marco Nereo Rotelli in partnership with the Academy of Fine Arts of L’Aquila.

Weekend of Art, Artists and Open Studios in Riebeek Valley

Solo Studios returns to the Riebeek Valley from October 24 to 26, 2025, featuring over 60 artists opening their studios in Riebeek Kasteel and Riebeek West. The weekend includes curated exhibitions such as LANDscape[s] at Die Kunshuis, showcasing works from Modern Art Projects South Africa (MAPSA), and a display of Ardmore Ceramics at EcoPlace, a home built from recycled materials. Other highlights include Red Hot, Pink Spot, a group show of 13 female artists from Kommetjie, and FEAST, a Porterville artist exhibition. Service users from Rehab Care Castlerea and Roscommon are presenting a special art exhibition at the Roscommon Library. Running from February 18th to February 28th, the showcase features a variety of creative works produced by individuals within the care program.

SRU art students celebrated at Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition

Slippery Rock University recently concluded its Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition at the Martha Gault Art Gallery, showcasing the diverse creative output of its student body. Out of 90 submissions, guest juror Clayton Merrell selected 49 pieces for the three-week installation, spanning mediums such as sculpture, painting, printmaking, fiber art, and ceramics. The exhibition culminated in an awards ceremony where senior Kayla Stallings took first place for her sculpture titled "Fur."

Artist co-op in Olde Town Arvada in need of new space to continue showcasing local artwork

Burd's Nest Art Gallery, an artist co-op in Olde Town Arvada, Colorado, opened in February 2024 with about 35 local artists showcasing ceramics, fused glass, jewelry, and other artwork. Owner Judi Mitchell realized a lifelong dream by creating the co-op, but the building will soon become a restaurant, forcing the gallery to find a new affordable space or temporarily close. Mitchell has been unable to find a suitable replacement location and may have only a month or two left in the current space.
