Tender Ground exhibit explores vulnerability and environment

The Hook Experiment in Oxford is currently hosting "Tender Ground," a lens-based exhibition featuring the work of four regional women artists: Lynda Schmid, Sarah R. Bloom, Marnie Ellen Hertzler, and Jonna McKone. Curated by Constance McBride and Lisa Baird, the show utilizes photography and found objects to explore themes of environmental instability, physical vulnerability, and the fragility of place. The works range from disjointed equine photography and nude self-portraiture in decaying spaces to documentation of the disappearing Tangier Island.

Artists from OMAH exhibit to speak at Storytelling Orillia circle

Artists participating in the International Women's Day Art Show at the Orillia Museum of Art and History (OMAH) will share the stories behind their artworks at a monthly story circle hosted by Storytelling Orillia. Ten artists, including show coordinator Juliana Hawke and organizer Sharon Langfield, are expected to speak at the event, which is open to the public.

IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) and the Fondazione Francesco Morelli have set up a free urban campsite, The Glitch Camp, at the Ex Macello in Milan to host 300 international design students during Milan Design Week. The camp, created in partnership with IKEA, provides accommodation, communal spaces, workshops, and social events, aiming to make the prestigious event more accessible.

May 2026 Exhibitions

Several galleries and a museum in Columbus's Short North arts district are opening new exhibitions for May 2026. Highlights include a women's group show at Sean Christopher Gallery Ohio, environmental abstract paintings by Annette Poitau at Marcia Evans Gallery, a spring-themed solo exhibition by Amy Adams at Sharon Weiss Gallery, and a salon exhibition at 24 Lincoln St. Gallery & Art Studios. The Columbus Museum of Art at the Pizzuti is presenting the first U.S. museum survey of Bahamian conceptual artist Tavares Strachan, featuring his 'Encyclopedia of Invisibility'.
